‘El Turco’ claimed victory in WorldSBK’s 1000th race for his third ‘milestone’ victory, while Ducati became the first manufacturer to take part in 1000 races

The MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship visited Balaton Park Circuit for a special Hungarian Round, the first round in Hungary since 1990 although it was the venue’s first WorldSBK event. Celebrating 1000 races, Toprak Razgatlioglu (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) surprised two legends in different stats while Sam Lowes (ELF Marc VDS Racing Team) took his first feature-length race rostrum. All the key numbers from Hungary are below…

1000 – WorldSBK celebrated its 1000th race in the Tissot Superpole Race, won by Razgatlioglu.

999-1000 – Kawasaki had been set to celebrate their 1000th race in the Tissot Superpole Race, but, after Garrett Gerloff (Kawasaki WorldSBK Team) was declared unfit after Race 1, they remain on 999. Ducati became the first manufacturer to take part in 1000 races in Race 2 (they’d previously missed Race 2 at Istanbul Park in 2013).

800-900-1000 – The last three milestone races have all been won by Toprak Razgatlioglu (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team), for three different manufacturers: Race 800 with Kawasaki, Race 900 with Yamaha and Race 1000 with BMW.

499 – Italy is preparing for a milestone, now on 499 WorldSBK podiums.

120 – Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing - Ducati) now has 120 WorldSBK podiums to his name.

83 – Bautista and Razgatlioglu have shared a podium 83 times, two shy of the record held by Rea and Razgatlioglu.

59-61 – Razgatlioglu moved ahead of Noriyuki Haga for fastest lap in Race 1 with his 59th; he now stands on 61.

44 – Bulega has 44 WorldSBK podiums from 60 races, a 73.3% success rate.

38 – Andrea Locatelli (Pata Maxus Yamaha) has finished P4 38 times in WorldSBK. He’s now ahead of Aaron Slight for P4 finishes (37), only behind Rea (39) and Alex Lowes (45).

22 – Razgatlioglu surpasses Carl Fogarty’s tally of pole positions, with ‘El Turco’ on 22 compared to 21 for ‘Foggy’.

15 – Razgatlioglu has won at 15 different venues in WorldSBK, level with Doug Polen and Bautista. The record for wins at different circuits is held by Rea, at 22.

15 – Razgatlioglu has 15 wins this season – the second-most he’s had in a single campaign. He had 18 wins in 2024.

13 – Bulega was 13th in the Superpole Race – his worst finish when taking the chequered flag in his 60 WorldSBK races.

10 – Razgatlioglu has 10 hat-tricks in WorldSBK, putting him level with Bautista’s tally as riders with the most triples.

9 – ‘El Turco’ is on a run of nine consecutive wins. He can match his record of wins in a row, 13, in Race 1 at MotorLand Aragon and surpass it in the Superpole Race if he completes a hat-trick at Magny-Cours. He has never won at Aragon in WorldSBK, and BMW haven’t won there since Chaz Davies did a double in 2013.

4-1 – Sam Lowes (ELF Marc VDS Racing Team) took his third and fourth WorldSBK rostrums on Sunday in Hungary; his fourth was his first feature-length race podium.
